Buyers Step In and Move The Market Averages Higher
Friends
Tech stocks helped move the market averages higher today as investors shrugged off tariff noise and decided to buy the weakness of the last couple of trading sessions. Again, we a teeing it up for earnings season which begins in earnest next week. Until then tariffs appear to be this week’s obsession.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 217 points to finish the day at 44,458. The S&P 500 was up 37 points to close at 6,262. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 192 points to close at 20,611. Gold was up $6 to trade at $3,323 per ounce, while oil was down $.06 to trade at $68.27 per barrel WTI.
As I mentioned yesterday, stocks might be somewhat fully priced as we enter this earnings season. I would think companies are going to have to beat expectations to move the market averages higher this summer. Of course, we will see. Stay tuned.
Have a nice evening everyone.
