Stocks Higher on Quieter Day

Stocks mainly traded higher today with the market averages adding different percentage gains across the board. Tariff talk continues to be front and center, but we also are in another very busy week of earnings. We still have behemoths Google and Amazon to report this week, Google after the closing bell today.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 134 points to close at 44,556. The S&P 500 was up 43 points to close at 6,037. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 262 points to close at 19,654. Gold was up $17 to trade at $2,874 per ounce, while oil was down $.52 to trade at $72.64 per barrel WTI.

In general, earnings have been good this quarter, but not for everyone. It’s been a winners and losers earnings season but the market averages have survived it well so far. We have a way to go but let’s see how this week plays out. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.
