Stocks Lower To Begin the Week

There appears to be no real enthusiasm for a Santa Claus rally. Stocks were lower from the open and never really mounted a serious attempt to rally.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 249 points to finish the day at 48,461. The S&P 500 was down 24 points to close at 6,905. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 118 points to close at 23,474. Gold was down $201 to trade at $4,351 per ounce, while oil was up $1.17 to trade at $57.91 per barrel WTI.

With just 2 trading days left in the year it’s hard to find a catalyst that would provide a burst into year end. Again, quiet isn’t all that bad. Let’s see what happens over the next couple of days. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.
