Stocks Move Higher On Goo Data

Friends

We had some very solid economic data this morning including a better-than-expected retail sales number. Market participants seemed pleased and once again stocks moved higher throughout the day. We also saw more good earnings releases from the likes of PepsiCo and United Airlines. So far so good with regards to corporate earnings season.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 229 points to finish the day at 44,484. The S&P 500 was up 33 points to close at 6,297. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 153 points to close at 20,884. Gold was down $13 to trade at $3,345 per ounce, while oil was up $1.25 to trade at $67.63 per barrel WTI.

The bulls continue to occupy the high ground as economic data and good earnings are providing a tail wind for higher stock prices. Let’s see how the week finishes out tomorrow.

Have a nice evening everyone.
