Stocks Quiet At Week End
Friends
After some gyrating it appeared that market participants were simply out of gas as the trading week came to a close. Stocks tried to rally early but drifted aimlessly in the later hours of the trading session. There were some tariff headlines but nothing of any real consequence that would move markets.
By the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 119 points to finish the day at 41,249. The S&P 500 was down 4 points to close at 5,659. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up a fraction to close at 17,928. Gold was up $28 to trade at $3,334 per ounce, while oil was up $1.09 to trade at $61.00 per barrel WTI.
The question going forward is, will stocks continue to rally on tariff decisions? We have mainly erased the downturn that occurred after the April 2nd announcements. Where do we go from here? We’ll mull that over while marinating some ice cubes this weekend. In the meantime…
Have a great weekend everyone.
