Stocks Take A Breather

Sure, there were tariff headlines. Heck, there are always tariff headlines. But I think stocks just kind of ran out of gas today. We have been pushing new highs almost every day lately, so a little rest couldn’t do any harm. Over the next couple of weeks, we are going to get earnings reports from the biggest companies in America including Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, and Google just to mention a few. I think earnings will trump tariff talk but we will see.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 142 points to finish the day at 44,342. The S&P 500 was down a fraction to close at 6,296. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 10 points to close at 20,895. Gold was up $8 to trade at $3,353 per ounce, while oil was down $.22 to trade at $67.32 per barrel WTI.

Despite today’s sloppiness, the bulls still hold the high ground. We’ll marinate a few ice cubes this weekend and be back with you on Monday.

Have a great weekend everyone.
