Stocks Quiet/Markets Closed Tomorrow

Friends

It was a quiet day for stocks as the 10-year Treasury note finally settled back a little in yield giving traders a bit of relief. As we have pointed out, market participants have had trouble dealing with the rise in longer term interest rates over the past several weeks.

By the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 106 points to finish the day at 42,635. The S&P 500 was up 9 points to close at 5,918. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 10 points to close at 19,478. Gold was up $12 to trade at $2,677 per ounce, while oil was down $.91 to trade at $73.34 per barrel WTI.

The markets are closed tomorrow for a national day of mourning for former President Jimmy Carter. We will be back with you on Friday.

Have a nice evening everyone.

Jim
