Stocks Grind Higher In Quiet Session
Friends
It was a somewhat quiet trading session, but the bulls were able to squeak out small gains in the market averages. This morning’s PPI number was similarly benign like yesterday’s CPI number, giving the bulls further confidence that inflation is under control for the moment.
By the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 101 points to finish the day at 42,967. The S&P 500 was up 23 points to close at 6,045. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 46 points to close at 19,662. Gold was up $64 to trade at $3,408 per ounce, while oil was down $.02 to trade at $68.13 per barrel WTI.
With inflation and employment data now behind us, the bulls appear to be firmly entrenched on the high ground. Let’s see how the week finishes out tomorrow.
Have a nice evening everyone.
