Stocks Soar Again
Friends
Reports of a possible peace agreement and more great corporate earnings news sent stocks soaring to new highs once again today. Would I like to see things calm down a little bit and have some of these moves not be so parabolic? Yes, I would. But there’s an old saying on Wall Street- trade the market you have, not the one you want. And by the way, the markets don’t care what I want.
For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 612 points to close at 49,910. The S&P 500 was up 105 points to finish the day at 7,365. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 512 points to close at 25,838. Gold was up $137 to trade at $4,705 per ounce, while oil was down $7.17 to trade at $95.10 per barrel WTI.
Now, with regards to peace talks, who knows. As soon as something is rumored, the parties start lobbing insults and threats at each other. But as for the amazing run of corporate earnings, we continue to see, that is the real fuel for this move higher. I’ve been doing this so long you’d think I’d just learn to enjoy it, but worrying is in my DNA, I guess. But better me do the worrying than you.
Have a nice evening everyone.
