Stocks Drift Lower Into The Weekend

Stocks tried to end the week on a high note but could not hold gains from earlier in the trading session. We have seen a little volatility creep back into the trading action lately and that’s not a huge surprise given the sometimes-unpredictable environment we are in.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 83 points to close at 49,359. The S&P 500 was down 4 points to finish the day at 6,940. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 14 points to close at 23,515. Gold was down $38 to trade at $4,585 per ounce, while oil was up $.32 to trade at $59.51 per barrel WTI.

Remember, over the next couple of weeks we will get earnings reports from the biggest and best companies in the world. We always wonder if shares are priced appropriately before the release. This quarter it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Even though the banks stocks had good earnings, some struggled share wise after their release. We’ll likely see more volatility over the coming weeks. Stay buckled in.

Have a great weekend everyone.
